У статті подано трактування поняття механізму формування, функціонування та економічного розвитку транскордонних кластерних структур. Здійснено групування видів цих механізмів за такими ознаками, як порядок утворення, місце виникнення ініціативи з утворення транскордонного кластеру, участь органів державної (регіональної) влади у процесі утворення кластеру, спосіб утворення, рівень централізації, види діяльності, якими займатиметься транскордонна кластерна структура тощо. Проаналізовано механізми формування, функціонування та економічного розвитку транскордонних кластерів у трьох європейських макрорегіонах.
