У статті на підставі аналізу вітчизняного законодавства здійснено характеристику завдань підрозділів патрульної поліції стосовно профілактики правопорушень. Запропоновано у відомчих нормативно-правових актах закріпити завдання профілактики адміністративних та кримінальних правопорушень. Відзначено, що завдання патрульної поліції як суб’єкта профілактичної діяльності, беручи до уваги загальні завдання профілактики правопорушень, доцільно поділити на дві групи ‒ завдання щодо виявлення та усунення причин і умов усієї сукупності правопорушень (чи окремих груп) та завдання здійснення профілактичного впливу на конкретну особу (кола осіб), яка схильна до вчинення делікту чи розпочала його вчинювати (вчинила).
