Статтю присвячено визначенню ролі та типової характеристики жертви кримінальних правопорушень проти життя та здоров’я особи, які мають побутовий характер. Доведено, що ефективність превентивних заходів залежить не лише від впливу на правопорушників, а й від роботи з потенційними жертвами, що сприяє побудові дієвої системи запобігання злочинам. Проаналізовано значення віктимологічних досліджень для глибшого розуміння умов, що сприяють насильницькій поведінці злочинця, а також для оцінювання рівня латентної злочинності у сімейній сфері. Особливу увагу приділено розвитку соціального аспекту віктимологічних знань, комплексному аналізу факторів віктимності й віктимізації не лише індивідів, а й соціальних груп, що є актуальним завданням сучасної кримінології.
