В умовах розвинених ринкових відносин та посилення глобалізаційних процесів розвиток страхового ринку обумовлюється соціально-економічними потребами розвитку суспільства. У статті розглянуто визначення дефініції «страховий ринок» та показано місце страхових компаній серед інших ключових гравців фінансової системи України. Серед функцій страхового ринку визначено ризикову, фінансову, стимулювальну, контрольну, соціальну, перерозподільну, інвестиційну та функцію накопичення. Також зазначено й розкрито основні аспекти, що характеризують позитивний вплив страхового ринку на розвиток України. Проведене дослідження дає можливість стверджувати, що рівень розвитку страхового ринку відображає можливості економічного зростання України та постає одним з основних показників розвиненої фінансової системи держави.
