У статті розкрито специфіку будівельної галузі, розгорнуто окреслено перелік ознак, що притаманні галузі будівництва. Проведено дослідження різних класифікацій факторів, що мають вплив на роботу будівельних підприємств. Структуровано власний поділ таких факторів за приналежністю до середовища, зроблено висновок про переважання зовнішніх факторів. На основі переліку виокремлених факторів сформовано PEST-аналіз, де обґрунтовується як саме ці фактори впливають на діяльність будівельних підприємств. Отже, найбільший вплив на будівельні підприємства чинять політичні фактори, здебільшого негативні. Не менш важливим є вплив економічних та технологічних факторів.
