Introduction. In modern conditions of formation and development of market relations before each enterprise there is a problem of an estimation of a level of competitiveness in order to strengthen a competitive position and to offer effective directions of increase. The purpose of the paper is to analyze the methodological foundations of the competitiveness of the enterprise as a starting point for further development, the ability to achieve strategic goals and objectives. Results. Modern approaches and practical recommendations aimed at determining the essence of assessing the competitiveness of the enterprise are substantiated. Emphasis is placed on the importance of enterprise competitiveness in the overall economic development of the country. The sequence of actions during the assessment of product competitiveness is offered. The methodological aspects of assessing the competitiveness of the enterprise are determined, the classification of methods of assessing the competitiveness and the choice of the optimal method are given. Conclusion. Improving the state of the country's economy cannot happen without increasing the competitiveness of enterprises themselves. Proper assessment of the company's competitiveness allows management to identify key competitors, analyze their behavior strategy, see their own place in the market and develop their own strategy for further behavior to neutralize competitors and increase their profits.
