Identification of real and rational borders of regional cluster formations

Issue: №10, 2019

Introduction. The development of regional clusters of enterprises is now a powerful organizational reserve for the development of productive forces and economic relations of regions in Ukraine, which has not been yet used. Despite the significant attention in research papers to cluster economics, a number of important fundamental and applied problems remain unresolved. One of these problems deals with identification of the borders of clusters of enterprises. Purpose. The purpose of the publication is to substantiate the conceptual idea of solving the problem of allocating rational borders for cluster formations. Since cluster borders are a fairly arbitrary subjective definition, the research of cluster borders should not focus on demarcation, which divides a single national economy into clusters, but should focus on certain close businesses with a definition of their sectoral affiliation. In this case, the border should be understood as a gradual weakening of the recognition of other entities, which belong to the regional cluster of enterprises. Results. The article presents the prerequisites for identification of the borders of regional clusters of enterprises. Previous studies and publications, which reveal questions of identification of cluster development conditions, have been analysed. An argument is made in favour of the necessity to establish scientific foundations for defining the borders of regional clusters of enterprises. Approaches to definition of the borders of regional clusters of enterprises, which enable to define the composition of the entities entering into various forms of coordination, have been identified and analysed. The result of the analysis showed that there are two groups of approaches to setting the borders of regional clusters of enterprises. The advantages and disadvantages of approaches to identification of the borders of regional clusters of enterprises have been identified. Conclusion. Based on the analysis of the approaches to the identification of real and rational borders of regional clusters of enterprises, their disadvantages have been identified. In case of individual use, the development of new forms of enterprise relationships is limited. It is possible to obtain contradictory results or practical value while developing recommendations concerning formation of a cluster model of economic development of regions. References 1. Buzko I.R.
