Introduction. Family relations are not only regulated by legal norms but are also deeply rooted in moral values, traditions, and social principles. The concept of good faith plays a fundamental role in ensuring justice, preventing abuse, and fostering harmonious relationships between spouses, parents, and children. However, in practice, conflicts often arise when one of the parties disregards this principle, prioritizing personal interests over fairness and mutual respect. The purpose of the paper is to analyze the principle of good faith in marital and family relations, explore its legal consolidation within Ukrainian family law, and examine its practical application in resolving disputes. Results. The research emphasizes the key role of good faith, fairness, and reasonableness in family law. It explores how this principle influences property division, child custody disputes, and the fulfillment of family obligations. Ukrainian legislation explicitly incorporates the principle of good faith into family law, particularly in cases involving spousal support, division of common property, and parental responsibilities. However, despite the existence of legal provisions, the practical application of this principle remains complex and often requires judicial interpretation. Court decisions demonstrate that violations of good faith can lead to severe legal consequences, including contract annulment, redistribution of property, and even restrictions on parental rights. Conclusion. The principle of good faith serves as a crucial element in maintaining stability and justice in family relations. Its observance ensures fair treatment, reduces conflicts, and safeguards the rights and interests of all family members. Although Ukrainian family law provides a legal basis for enforcing good faith, its practical implementation requires further legislative improvements and judicial refinements.
