Ефективне використання сільськогосподарських угідь забезпечується державним регулюванням, зокрема через оподаткування. Аналіз, узагальнення нормативно-законодавчої бази та наукових публікацій вказує на недосконалість підходів до грошового оцінювання сільськогосподарських угідь – бази оподаткування земельного податку та інших податків. Важливим є зв'язок рівня оподаткування з якісним станом ґрунтів, що є можливим завдяки актуалізації даних для обрахунку бази оподаткування з максимально гнучким підходом до оновлення інформації про стан сільськогосподарських угідь. Це, зі свого боку, стимулюватиме застосування ощадливих агротехнологій.
