Today, the global context requires a radical acceleration of the transition to green and circular economies as a basis for increasing the long-term sustainability of companies, industries and regions. This requires a change in the vector of social development, in particular, a transition from the outdated linear economy model to a green and circular one, the advantages of which are waste minimization, resource reuse, and increased production efficiency. And for Ukraine in wartime, this transition is strategically necessary to ensure the sustainable development of Ukrainian firms and the country, its full integration into the EU and successful post-war recovery. For domestic firms, adopting European experience is the only way to gain/maintain positions in international markets. Although the war has had devastating consequences for the economy and caused the emergence of unprecedented volumes of «war waste», their prompt and effective elimination becomes a powerful impetus for technological renewal according to the «Build Back Better» principle. The paper examines the impact of green and circular economies on the activities of enterprises, in particular in wartime, as a fundamental basis for sustainable development. The essence of the concepts of "green economy" and "circular economy" is studied and the conceptual differences between them are highlighted; the experience of the European Union in implementing the circular model and its results are analyzed; the specifics and prospects for improving war waste management in Ukraine are studied; the prospects for the implementation of green and circular economies by Ukrainian enterprises are described to strengthen their competitiveness, sustainable development and intensification of international activities in the context of the development and post-war reconstruction of Ukraine are described.
